Quick Look: Brick Breaker Mania is almost identical to the classic video game Breakout that originally released in 1976 by Atari. The premise of the game is the same: As the ball moves around the screen breaking out bricks you prevent it from hitting the ground with the use of your paddle. The paddle is controlled with the left and right arrow keys on your remote.
The game starts out with 4 rows of different colored bricks, some of which hold different game enhancements, point values, change colors or require you to hit it twice to destroy. Each player is awarded 3 lives; if the ball misses the paddle you lose a life, 3 misses and the game is over. There are 20 levels of play that become more and more difficult as you progress. There is a High Score board that tracks your performance as well as a list of instructions on how to play the game.
We did notice a small glitch as the game would not restart. Instead, you have to go back to your home screen and select the game again to continue playing.
The VTV - The Breakout channel offers a very similar game.
