Quick Look: The News 8 Roku channel offers news, weather, sports, and features from TV station WKBT in La Crosse, Wisconsin. News coverage is far from complete. As with many TV stations offering local news on Roku, videos consist only of individual news stories, not entire newscasts. News 8 is even more hit-or-miss than many others, however. On September 20, only four current news snippets are offered from today: a 21-second segment on a looming government shutdown, and three human interest stories that are each between one and two minutes in length.
In the weather category, you'll find daily morning and evening updates. Features include the recurring segments Pet of the Week, Hands on Gardening (sic), Assignment: Education, and Top Notch Teacher. Sports topics include College Sports, Coulee Region Chill, La Crosse Loggers, and Play of the Week.
High School sports coverage seems to be comprehensive, with videos categorized by school. Fifty schools, from Alma to Wonewoc-Center, are covered.
