Quick Look: Qesign is a newer version of QuickESign, which lets you turn your Roku-connected TV into an electronic signboard. To use this channel, you will need to start a free trial at qesign.tv, then link your Roku player to that account by launching the Roku channel and pressing the * button on your remote. No payment information is needed for the trial, which lasts for 7 days but can be extended by contacting Qesign (contact information is provided when you log into your account).
Once logged in, you can start creating your own advertising or announcement signs, whether for your home, office, or business. Qesign has an easy-to-use drag-and-drop interface for creating a layout; just drag and drop a slide show, text box, or date and time display. The slideshow lets you upload your own photos and set transitions, scaling, and other options. You can also embed widgets to display weather, Twitter posts, news feeds, and links to externally-hosted images. There is even an option to link your Instagram account, but that didn't work during my test of the system.
Once you have one or more layouts saved, the Qesign website lets you specify which linked devices to run the layouts on and how many times to loop them. You can even set up schedules to run different layouts at different times.
Although I didn't have the time to try out all the options available, Qesign's intuitive user inteface made it easy to quickly set up a simple sign with the current date and time, local weather conditions and forecast, and a slideshow of images that I uploaded. This is a great for anyone wanting to create an electronic sign board for their office, retail space, church or other location where they can display customized information.
